My little way of saying great, big THANKS.
Howdy friends! It's the end of October, and we're rounding the corner on overdubs and pre-mix edits. Mix down is slated to start mid-November. After that, the music is on to be mastered and duplicated before finally landing in your hands. And I'm crazy excited about getting this music into your hands!
Wild Acre has been far from a solo venture. The CD was recorded in a barn at Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah, Iowa. Jake Armerding has guided and produced the project and played acoustic guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Other band members include Jeremy Ylvisaker (electric guitar), Nate Babbs (drums), Aaron Fabbrini (upright and electric bass), and Jonathan Rundman (accordion).
But none of that could have happened without the love and support of a whole lot of folks. For instance, my son's piano teacher, Cathy Corkery, loaned us her 1920s Steinway grand piano. For a week of recording. In a barn. Ninety miles away from her house. In the middle of the hot and humid Iowa summer. Can you imagine?! Well, I could tell you story after story of amazing people showing up to offer what they had to this musical adventure. Through crowdfunding with Indiegogo and fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas, we've raised nearly $18,000 toward the making of the record. Wowza. Really, it's like some kind of miracle, and I continue to be humbled by the generosity of my friends and fans.
Here's that dreaded moment where I say, "But wait! There's more!" I'm still hopeful that we can reach our basic $20,000 funding goal. The 40-day crowdfunding campaign is over, but tax-deducible donations and pre-orders are still being accepted here. Every penny goes directly toward the the CD. Just a few weeks left to donate or order now. If you do, I'll send you a signed copy of the CD weeks before it's even released.
